Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Clinical Psychologist post working with our highly skilled psychological therapies team within Fylde and Wyre Integrated Child and Adolescent Mental Service and Children's Psychological Service (CAMHS/CPS). Fylde and Wyre CAMHS/CPS work with Children and Young People up to 18 years old with a wide range of complex emotional and mental health difficulties.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and creative Clinical Psychologist to join our established Psychological Therapies Team (including Clinical Psychologists, CBT Therapist, Family Therapist and Trainee/Assistant Psychologists) which works within the highly experienced, supportive and forward thinking CAMHS/CPS MDT, inclusive of Psychiatrists, CAMHS Practitioners, ADHD Practitioners, Primary Mental Health Workers and, Children and Young Wellbeing Practitioners.

We will consider applications from current final year Clinical Psychology trainees qualifying in 2025.

The successful candidate will support our team to deliver high quality mental health services through innovative and comprehensive psychological assessments, formulations and interventions with children and young people, systemic/family and group work whilst also providing multidisciplinary/multi-agency consultation.

Main duties of the job

There will be opportunities to further develop areas of clinical interest relevant to the employed role. Our team have benefitted from a range of development opportunities including in-house training and specific therapies training and supervision (e.g., DDP, EMDR, Schema Therapy).

There will be ample opportunity for post-qualification support, supervision and consolidation of core competencies alongside more experienced colleagues both locally and across the region.

• To provide a qualified specialist clinical psychology service to children, young people and their families, across all sectors of care.
• To provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation and psychological therapy in both settings.
• To offer advice and consultation to non-psychological colleagues and to other non-professional carers.
• To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the Specialty and Psychology services policies and procedures.
• To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development within the area serviced by the service.

Person Specification

Education

Essential

• Registered Nurse (Mental Health) - current NMC Registration. Or equivalent
• Evidence of professional updating and development in the nursing care of patients in an acute or community setting.
• Diploma in Professional Studies (Nursing) - or equivalent.

Knowedge

Essential

• Previous post-registration mental health nursing experience.
• Involvement in innovative nursing practice and multi-cultural nursing environments.

Desirable

• Of practicing in an acute mental health inpatient/community care setting

Experience

Essential

• Skills in assessing, planning and evaluating mental health nursing interventions.
• Skills in interacting therapeutically with distressed and/or disturbed individuals.
