Specialist Clinical or Counselling Psychologist

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a newly or recently qualified Clinical or Counselling Psychologist who is keen to take on the challenges of working in a new role in a diverse borough with people with severe and enduring mental health difficulties and with clients from a range of religious, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. The post holder will be expected to work alongside other Psychologists, including a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist who will also provide supervision.

Main duties of the job

This is a fixed term Psychology role within Tower Hamlets Community 24/7 service pilot. The pilot ensures delivery of high quality, modern, patient-centered services. This is a pilot project aimed to establish and test out a new model of care that breaks down current barriers to care, is nonrestrictive, co-produced, culturally sensitive and accessible. The service will run 24hrs a day, 7 days a week for people residing in the catchment area offering open access to a range of psycho-social- medical Interventions at every stage of their wellness journey, this includes short term Hospitality stays for those in crisis, and community based offers that are embedded in the neighbourhood.

The Team is multi-disciplinary and multi-agency and committed to co-production, facilitation and liaison with service users, local residents, local VCSE, health and social care services in order that people with co-morbid physical and mental health conditions, experience good outcomes for their mental health. Additionally the team provides specialist input where this is required.

Job responsibilities

The role involves, as part of a Multi-Disciplinary team:

Setting up, implementing and reviewing appropriate care plans and supporting and advising relatives and care givers.

Ensuring that co-production is at the core of the role

Ensuring that compassion and empathy are central to care delivery

Promoting the needs of service users with mental health needs and offering and providing training and education whenever possible.

In conjunction with the crisis pathway services, providing a safe and effective urgent community assessment and treatment response service.

Undertaking comprehensive assessments, including risk formulation, effectively and efficiently

formulate and agree crisis safety care plans and to support and advise relatives and care givers.
