As a Band 6 Occupational Therapist, youll bring your skills and compassion to a dynamic multidisciplinary team, working with children and young people in an acute inpatient setting. This role involves assessing and treating children with a range of complex needs, helping them achieve their full potential in self-care, education, and leisure.
Youll work autonomously within the Sunflower House team while receiving clinical supervision from senior colleagues in the Dewi Jones Unit and profession-specific guidance from Alder Heys Acute Occupational Therapy team.
Conduct holistic assessments of children and young people using clinical observations and specialist tools to address sensory, motor, cognitive, and social needs. Develop, implement, and evaluate personalised, activity-based treatment plans in collaboration with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams. Lead individual and group therapy sessions, using evidence-based approaches to help children achieve functional skills and independence. Contribute to discharge planning, ensuring a seamless transition to community services and supporting continuity of care. Provide training and guidance to families, carers, and professionals to maximise therapeutic outcomes. Play an active role in the development of the units therapeutic and sensory environment, ensuring it meets the needs of service users. Maintain accurate, contemporaneous records and contribute to audit, research, and service development projects.
