Job summary

Are you looking for an excitingopportunity to develop your clinical and research skills in mental health. The Community Engagement Team is looking to recruiting one full-time Assistant Psychologist.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a co-produced, innovative community mental health and well-being team. The Community Engagement team is for working age adults (18 to 65 years old). This service will provide accessible, community-based support interventions and activities (group and individuals) which, address the holistic well-being needs of service users (e.g., emotional, social, occupational, practical, etc). This is a co-produced service that blends psychological, occupational therapy, and evidenced based interventions supported by voluntary sector partners on out-reach, employment alongside lived experience to ensure that support is accessible, relevant, and effective. The service seeks to create community integration and support by working alongside stakeholders across the London Borough of Enfield.

We are looking for One new team member who are highly motivated individuals, passionate, dependable, and able to work independently, as well as part of a dynamic team. Has previous experience working in community and running groups.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

The duties of the post holder will include:

• Co-facilitating therapy groups with qualified psychologists or OT
• Holding a small individual therapy caseload under supervision of a qualified psychologist.
• Supporting the management of the waiting lists including managing system to regularly contact those on the waiting list to carrying out risk assessments, problem-solving and signposting.
• Management of the outcome measure collection and auditing.
• To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.
• To be involved in new service developments within the team in developing the transformation plans.
• To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping including electronic data entry and recording, report/letter writing in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
• Maintain clear, timely, comprehensive and contemporaneous written clinical records on all patients in accordance with Trust policies

Person Specification

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

• oAn upper second class honours degree or higher in psychology. Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.

Desirable

• oFurther post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis.

EXPERIENCE

Essential

• Work with people with mental health and/or personality difficulties and/or other disabilities/impairments.

Desirable

• Experience of paid work in direct care provision.
• Work within a forensic / secure setting or other community settings.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Essential

• High level communication skills (written and verbal) including an ability to communicate and work in settings in which the atmosphere may be highly emotive.
• Ability to communicate sensitive information to patients, carers and colleagues in a way that addresses psychological resistance.
• An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental health difficulties or other disabilities/impairments.

Desirable

• High standard of report writing.

PERSONAL

Essential

• An ability to interact effectively with staff from all disciplines and an ability to interact with people with mental health difficulties.
• An ability to interact with people with mental health difficulties.

Desirable
