Most clinical staff are trained in Inhalation Sedation, a service offered by dentists and therapists at most of our sites. IV sedation services are also available and the Community Dental Service operates general anaesthetic services at the three District General Hospitals. We are also supported by a visiting Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry from Alder Hey Hospital.
We currently host two DCT(1)s per annum and have a Speciality Trainee post in Special Care Dentistry. All final year dental students from Cardiff Dental School attend the Outreach Student Training Scheme operating at Wrexham Dental Centre (recommence September).
Enhanced services include an Intermediate Tier Dentoalveolar Surgery Service and the provision of Special Care Dentistry support to the Head and Neck Cancer MDT. Direct Access and Inhalation Sedation training for Therapists is provided and we are committed to expanding our skill mix models. A number of preventative oral health promotion programmes operate.
