At Yeovil District Hospital, we provide a symptomatic breast care service in a new purpose built facility -- The Maple Unit. We care for patients predominately from east Somerset and north Dorset. Referrals are accepted for new breast symptoms, breast cancer follow up and management of new screen detected breast cancers. Symptomatic outpatients are all seen in a "one stop" clinic within the 28-day faster diagnosis pathway.
While the post will be based at The Maple Unit, there may be opportunities to support the NHS Breast Screening Programme based at Musgrove Park Hospital.
We are looking for an enthusiastic qualified female radiographer to join the team for two days per week on a permanent contract. The applicant will hold or be willing to undertake the PG Certificate in Mammography.
A genuine occupational qualification applies to this post under section 6 of the Sex Discrimination Act of 1975 and therefore it is restricted to female applicants only.
To provide a clinical mammography service with images of diagnostic quality in a timely and professional manner
To contribute to the overall smooth running of the Maple Unit by taking responsibility for specific, delegated duties and by identifying areas for improvement and development and bringing these to the attention of the Lead Consultant Radiographer.
To maintain high standards in Quality Assurance as required by the National Health Service Breast Screening Programme.
The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate and maintain a high standard of imaging and communication skills within this busy unit. A proactive approach to maintaining CPD is expected. The workload will involve symptomatic imaging, one-stop clinics and follow up imaging. The applicant must also be able to provide x-ray guidance during interventional and localisation procedures.
