Staff Midwife - The Portland Hospital

Job summary

We're looking for a Staff Midwife to join The Portland Hospital, currently rated Good by the CQC, and the UK's only fully private maternity hospital in the UK.

Delivering over 1,600 babies per year, we place great importance on providing safe and high-quality care for expectant mothers. Both consultant-led and midwife-led maternity care is available, and we have a holistic care approach, providing expectant mothers with all the support they need during pregnancy, childbirth and beyond. Womens health issues are treated by a team of 40 consultants, supported by nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and counsellors, with an emphasis on privacy and dignity.

Main duties of the job

As the Staff Midwife, you will be responsible and accountable for the provision of high-quality care within the maternity setting. You will work within the midwifery team to provide antenatal, intranatal and postnatal care to all women during their inpatient stay and work alongside Obstetric Consultants colleagues to support Consultant Led Care within the maternity service.

Location: The Portland Hospital for Women & Children, London.

Hours: Full-time (shifts: Long days/nights/Weekends)

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• NMC Registered Midwife
• Basic Adult and Newborn Life Support
• Competent in IV cannulation

Experience

Essential

• Demonstrable knowledge and experience in a Midwifery setting
• Recent Labour ward experience

Desirable

• Teaching and Mentoring experience
